Through the first nine weeks of the season we have seen many teams surpass and severely under perform compared to what everyone thought each team would do. This was written before the Monday night game of 11/8 but otherwise is up to date on statistics and being midway through the season one game should not greatly impact any team.
One team that has been somewhat of a disappointment has been the Rams. They are still a top 10 defense (barely) but have not performed like they did last year as the best defense in the league. They lead the league in sacks, are second in interceptions, they are 16th in points allowed, and fifth in turnovers. Other than that, they are not performing at nearly as high as a level as they did last year.
One team surprising me is the Buccaneers, their overall defense is not a lot better than it was last year however, their passing defense has really stepped up. From being next to the worst now is middle of the pack with the 15th least allowed passing yards so far. This improvement makes Tampa Bay an even more intimidating opponent for the rest of the season.
One final team surprising me is the Ravens. Finishing last season with the #2 defense now sitting at 18th. They do not have an explosive defense being in the bottom half in the league in, points, turnovers, interceptions, and sacks.
